My first thought was "what a great name for a cat!" Maybe because it rhymes with purr and fur and has an exotic feel to it. It's hard to picture on a little girl, but other than that I like it. It's different. I also like the similar Myra (an anagram of Mary, btw)

I think it's lovely and subtly mystical.

I like Myrna largely because of its association with Myrna Loy. I think she is one of the Hollywood stars most worthy of having namesakes. She was ahead of her time in many of her opinions. One quote from her is “Why does every black person in the movies have to play a servant? How about a black person walking up the steps of a courthouse carrying a briefcase?”

It sounds like the name of a menacing and man-eating mermaid.

I've only known two Myrna people, both delightful, so that's a plus. But that -yr- sound is really unattractive to me: think Bertha and Percy.

I think it's eye-catching, but it's quite confusing to read. It reminds me of the Smyrna, a place name in the Bible.

I actually used to really, really like this name. I thought Myrna Lavinia would be a cool combo.

A decade plus later, I still like Lavinia but Myrna feels exceptionally dated. It appears its popularity boost was solely because of Myrna Loy, whose career high point coincides with its sharp rise in popularity - and her stepping back from film is reflected in its sharp decline.

I don't dislike it. I still think it sounds kind of cool. But I've definitely cooled on it.

Beyond the actress Myrna Loy I have never heard the name. I only know of Myrna Loy as she is briefly mentioned as a woman one of my favourite authors found attractive. He was born in 1916.

Myrna isn’t a name I’m aware of being particularly popular in the uk and I’m not a fan. Myrna sounds like a grandma name to me. I do however know a teenager called Morna (who helps with my brownies every week) which is the Scottish variant of the name. I don’t mind Morna but again wouldn’t use.
