Well I would like to say neither, but if I have to choose, Wilma. It makes me think Flintstones, but not as strongly as Velma makes me think Scooby Doo. Wilma is also close to some of my old family names. My dad’s family came from Germany and had lots of Wilhelm which Americanized through generations to using William. I would probably use Willa as a nickname and go with something short and classic, a filler, middle like Rose or Grace.

Both of them are WAY too dated for my liking. I’d probably pick Velma if you forced me to choose one, just because it sounds less like a grandmother and you could nickname her Vel. Wilma is just sorta weak sounding, while Velma at least sounds kind of sassy.
