Gosh. Arnold is so very dated that I have no connections with it at all. I find it stuffy and pompous.
Of the other names, I like Bernard (BERnard), Gerard (GERard), Arthur, Douglas and Roger, and I could warm up to Walter.
I dislike Harold, Gerald, Arvid (in an English context; fine in Scandinavia), Donald, Ronald, Leonard and Howard.
Dislikes, in order from Worst to Just OK: Arnold, Ronald, Howard, Donald, Harold, Gerald, Leonard. The more I look at all those -ld names, the weirder they seem to be.
