I'm quite fond of Arnold! The nickname Arnie is so endearing. The one thing that keeps me from being a full-fledged Arnold fan is the association with Arnold Schwarzenegger, which still feels pretty overpowering.I love so many of the other names you listed. These are really right up my alley. (My favorite, not listed, but similar, name is Raymond. Love Richard too.)Top tier: Walter, Harold, Arvid, Bernard, Roger
Mid tier: Arnold, Arthur, Reynold, Leonard, Howard
Lower tier: Gerald, Gerard, Douglas
Don't much like: Donald, Ronald - probably because of the Trump and Reagan associations. Republican politicians can really dampen my enthusiasm for a name I guess lol.

Hey Arnold.Anyways, it’s a decent name and I kinda like it. Arnold is cool and the meanings not bad either. Reminds me of Astor. Regardless, I’m not gonna rank all of those names right now but Arnold is better than Bernard, Gerard, Gerald, Arvid, and Ronald. But inferior to Arthur, Donald, Reynold, Douglas, and Roger. Pretty much the rest of them too. On the fence about Donald, though.

I’m not the hugest fan of this name. I also don’t really care for any of the other names on this list. If I had to choose, I’d choose Arthur.

Gosh. Arnold is so very dated that I have no connections with it at all. I find it stuffy and pompous.Of the other names, I like Bernard (BERnard), Gerard (GERard), Arthur, Douglas and Roger, and I could warm up to Walter.I dislike Harold, Gerald, Arvid (in an English context; fine in Scandinavia), Donald, Ronald, Leonard and Howard. Dislikes, in order from Worst to Just OK: Arnold, Ronald, Howard, Donald, Harold, Gerald, Leonard. The more I look at all those -ld names, the weirder they seem to be.

Arnold is unattractive, almost comically so. Like a bespectacled, pedantic character in a comic book about 1950s teenagers conforming perfectly to clique stereotypes. My ranking of these names, from favourite to least favourite:Leonard
Arthur
Douglas
Walter
Roger
Bernard
Howard
Gerald
Harold
Arvid
Arnold
Ronald
Reynold
Donald
Gerard
