My best friend was obsessed with Abigail when we were teenagers so I got pretty burnt out on it. She always wanted to use Nancy Abigail (to honor her mom, Nancy).

No offensive, but I find the name kind of drab. Its the Abby part that sounds childish to me. its really cute, but i think that a name is not for me if I prefer it's nicknames over it, such as Abby and Gail.
I absolutely love Gale/Gail. Its uncommon and underappreciated. Abigail has all of the praise that she desires. I can understand its importance as a biblical name, but I'm not crazy about it.
It goes well with other old names, but there are a few that don't feel outdated:
Abigail Hermione
Abigail Jade
Abigail Jane
Abigail Grace
Abigail Jasmine (I'd use)
Abigail Rose
Abigail Ariadne
Abigail Lauren
Abigail Delilah
Abigail JulieDiana Abigail
Rachel Abigail
Michaela Abigail
Christina Abigail (I'd use this one, its gorgeous)
Araminta Abigail
Gracie Abigail
Elora Abigail
Jasmine Abigail
Lillian Abigail

There’s nothing wrong with Abigail but I don’t like it that much. Abby as a nickname is fine.

I'm really no fond of it and never have been. I was surprised when it became so popular, and especially when Abby became the nn of choice - drab, flabby Abby. I far prefer Gail, but as an independent name. Wouldn't use it, though! But I'd like to meet one.

I like it with nn Gail as it’s unexpected and fresh.

I have never liked Abigail. The Gail part is just very unattractive to me. Abby / Abbie I tolerate but it isn't my favorite or anything, it's one of the rare names where I prefer the shorter diminutive over the longer name legally.

I like it as a whole, but don't like the nn Abby or Gail (any spellings of either). So, keeping Abigail as Abigail:
Abigail Claudia
Abigail Wilhelmina
Abigail Bianka
Abigail Lavinia
Abigail Deanna
Abigail Odile
Abigail Theresa
Abigail Zanthe
