What are your top five boys and girls names at this moment?

How are you pronouncing Genevieve?
Because I prefer the JEN-eh-veev pronunciation to zhahn-vee-EHV, just a personal thing. But I do like it very much (with my preferred pronunciation, of course). I also like Susannah (I love the old song), Lydia, Charlotte, Edward, James, Gregory, and of course Alexander! Your choices are all very classic and noble-sounding, I really like your taste in names. :)
~Lillian~
Proud daughter of Ann and John
Proud sister of Lauren and Leah
Proud wife of David
Proud mother of Alexander, Scarlett, Sophia, and Gideon

Very nice
Susannah Florence - I'm not too keen on Florence but Susannah is gorgeous and growing on me everyday!
Margot Elizabeth - very cute combo and I love this spelling of Elizabeth.
Eloise Virginia - although NMS a very graceful combo.
Sylvie Genevieve - that is so romantic sounding! I love French names
Lydia Charlotte - see above! LOL. Period gorgeousness...I love! Both brilliantly classic, timeless, feminine names.
Thomas Edward - like Lydia Charlotte it is totally timeless and very easy for spelling without being common. Thomas is really growing on me.
William George - William is my all time favourite name (and name of my son). I love it to pieces and we considered George for his middlename (before settling on Patrick), so you can understand just how much I adore this combo!!!
Henry Alexander - I'm not a fan of Henry but Alexander is fab.
Oliver James - I love the simpleness of this name. Its sleek and elegant whilst being timeless and classic. A marvellous name! My stepson is called Oliver.
Charles Gregory - I feel that Gregory is a bit weak. I prefer Gregor a little bit. Charles is great but only with nickname Charlie.
I must say these are really great names! I love them to pieces: they're brilliant. You have a very good naming style!

Evangeline Summer is *gorgeous*! (edited)
I also love Benjamin Noah, Nathaniel Wyatt and Matthias Paul (LOVE Matthias!). I also have to tell you I would call Olivia-Grace "Gracie" May by the nn "Gracie May" kind of all as one word, I just know I wouldn't be able to help it. We had a tiny patient in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) called Grace, for over four months. She was born severely premature (I believe 25 weeks, compared to the normal 40). All the nurses called her Gracie and once in a while Gracie Belle. But looking back Gracie May would have been so cute!
And when she gets cross or willful, you could call her "Gracie May Not"! *LOL*
ETA I wanted to add, on reflection, that James Damien is a gorgeous combo as well, imo, because I am particularly attracted to assonant and alliterative combinations, and James Damien definitely has them both, with the "-am-" syllable. The only reason I didn't mention it initially is because the name Damien gives me hives, thanks to The Omen. I know full well how stupid that must sound!, but I can't help it. And now they've remade the damn thing, and they're releasing it on 06/06/06! I'm going to have to preload with Benadryl and spend the day in church *shudders while laughing*...

Gracie May Not...That's good
I really, really like that idea...Gracie May *ponders to self*
I'll run it by Jack. I'm so glad you like Evangeline Summer! We're going to name any future daughters that. Its weird how much my name tastes are changing...I would of named Lucas, Sofia Noelle "Sofie", if he had been a girl but neither of those names appeal to me at all now only 3 months later!
Evangeline Summer and Benjamin Noah are like William and Alexandria to me: I go all tingly just saying them!

Some of you may have seen these before (with cheating!)
but my top five picks don't change, for the most part. I'm going to cheat and give my top five individual names, plus my top five combos, for each sex, and they don't always overlap. Combos do get changed more than individual names, though. And... always have to add the caveat: my true, far-and-away hands-down all-time favorite names and combos are already on my four children! See my profile. All the following are runners-up!, since they didn't get picked for my kids. But I do love these...
Girls: Individual Names
Summer
Mercy
Evangeline
Lorelei
Socorro
Girls: Combinations
Summer Siena
Mercy Evangeline or Mercy Nightingale (still can't choose)
Socorro Rose
Serena Lyriane
Veronica Bronte
Boys: Individual Names
Benedict
Jedidiah
Riordan
Archer
Dashing
Boys: Combinations
Sawyer Benedict
Jedidiah Hawking (nn Jedi or Hawk)
Luke Whittaker
Owen Brody
Fletcher Bowman

Thanks SO much, I love getting lots of comments back
So sweet of you to spend the time! Have to respond to some of your comments, just so you know!
Summer is on my list because my potential theoretical third daughter (whom Gideon would have been) would be Summer, because 1) it's another S name, carrying on with Scarlett and Sophie (David and the other kids voted that we should carry on with Ss for girls!); 2) I think it's a beautiful meaning, a gorgeous time of year; and 3) our last name is Sands. Yes, Summer Sands, say what thou wilt! Hey, she'd get married one day...
Sorry to hear about Mercy Divine! And Divine is NMS. But I cannot escape how much I love this name and its meaning. Grace and Mercy are said to be God's two greatest gifts to Mankind, and I feel His Grace and Mercy in my life. I don't give a damn how popular they get!
Socorro is a Spanish name that means "succor," as in "help, relief, aid." So it has a lovely meaning, but I mainly just love the sound of it. I first heard it as a name on a patient years ago named Socorro Torres. I have a thing for assonance and alliteration, and this combo of Socorro Rose has it, certainly. Plus Socorro is a reference to Our Lady ("Nuestro Senora de Perpetuo Socorro," or "Our Lady of Perpetual Help," one of Mary's many titles), which is always a plus.
As for Summer Siena, along similar

There are no words for how much I love Jedidiah Hawking, honestly. I'd also recommend the nn Jed, which I found utterly awful before I read Armageddon Summer by Jane Yolen and Bruce Coville. You might consider picking it up, because it's really great--it goes back and forth between the POVs of teenagers Marina (Yolen) and Jed (Bruce), who are brought by their parents to a hilltop in the wilderness to await the end of the world with the rest of their cult. It's amazing, and it's one of the reasons I've grown fond of Jedidiah.
Of your other names, I like/love:
Summer
Mercy
Evangeline
Mercy Evangeline AND Mercy Nightingale
Veronica Bronte
Benedict
Sawyer Benedict
Luke Whittaker
You might consider Scirocco as a never-ever-but-awesome name for Socorro's twin brother. ;) It's pronunced shir-AH-koh or thereabouts, and it's a word for a Mediterranean wind (http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/sirocco -- "scirocco" is a variant spelling that I like better).
Array

Array honey, have I ever mentioned how you totally slay me?!
Because I know Sirocco quite well, thank you, and yes indeed, I have always secretly GP'd on twinnies Socorro and Sirocco! We're not even going to quibble about that C, it so doesn't even matter. What matters is your mind-reading capacity even at a distance. You just astound me, baby, really. In your honor and on your sole say-so I will go straight out and find this book Armageddon Summer.
You rock out loud, did I mention?
Are you sure you're only eighteen? I may one day ask you to confidentially snailmail me your birth certificate. I wasn't kidding the other day when I said I hope I grow up to be as cool as you...

Wow--no one I've met has ever heard of Scirocco or Sirocco before. :D (The reason I prefer it with the extra C is because then it gets a good "SH" noise at the beginning, and that's also the way I first heard it--in the lyrics of a song describing a woman as "a scirocco on the sand.") This is very exciting, mon amie.
And if you read it and like it, you'll be the first person I've converted to Armageddon Summer. It's hard to resist it, IMO--Yolen and Coville are both fantastic writers, and together they're even better. (If you haven't read Jane Yolen's Briar Rose, you're seriously missing out on some fascinating Holocaust fiction.)
Array (will be nineteen in July--so she isn't exactly eighteen, lol)

Somebody somewhere's heard of it
Volkswagon has a car named Scirocco. This link is to the newest incarnation of it, but VW has had it for as long as 30 years.
http://www.germancarblog.com/2006/05/vw-scirocco-first-real-picture.html
Sadly, I cannot remember, but this may have been my first exposure to the idea of a scirocco, in the form of a VW! Though I really thought I was the first person to think of it as a boys' name! Ah, well, all geniuses must arrive at some of the same thoughts eventually, I suppose...

And I should also mention
that yes, I also love the nn Jed, which, truth to tell, would probably be the one to come out of my mouth most often, because a nn at my house is typically just the most-emphasized syllable of the name, like Soph for Sophie or Dave for David or Axe for Alexander.
Or Joon for Juniper!
And as for Jedidiah, I also love the very similar name Jebediah, nn Jeb, though I cannot stand that it has become linked to what's-his-ass's little brother, whose name is not even Jebediah, that's the acronym of his initials, dammit...
And I have long thought that the obvious nn for Sirocco (or Scirocco, as you prefer, though I say it "sh-" either way, and will point out Sirocco makes a better alphabetic match for Socorro) would be Rocco, which itself would even tend to become Rocky. (And come to think of it, Socorro would try to become Corri, but I wouldn't let it! Go go Coco!)

Yes, I've noticed before
that we have a lot of favorite names in common! Yet another example of great minds thinking alike.
OT, I have this cool book about how names can affect your life and destiny. Would you like to know what The Secret Universe of Names has to say about Andrea?

Okay, check this out
I haven’t tried writing a long post on my Word and then copying it to a message before, but I figure this is a good time.
To best understand what I am going to copy from the book for you, please read the following link (at least the first part, that talks about this book) before going on to the bulk of this post. The responses to that post will also help.
http://www.behindthename.com/bb/arcview.php?id=515445&board=ot
The book says that the dominant phoneme of your name is the consonant combination “and.” This phoneme is called The Cynic. Characteristics of people with names dominated by this phoneme are: Strong, Introspective, Aware; Conspiratorial, Phobic, Calculating. People with “and” names rank 8/10 for Charisma, 9/10 for Career Success, 7/10 for Love & Friendship, and 8/10 for Power.
Names dominated by the “and” phoneme include:
Anders
Anderson
Andre
Andrea
Andreas
Andres
Andrew
Andy
The combination of the authoritarian letter A and the negative letter N sets up a level of tension that manifests itself in many pessimistic forms (anger, antagonize, anxious, anti-, anguish, and annoy) and it’s this friction that creates the inherent conflict in the AND personalities. The dark qualities of the letter D (death, destruction, doom, damnation, and despotism) don’t do much to mitigate the problem, and even those whose names incorporate the letter R (Andrea, Andre, Andrew) are affected by the dramatic effects of the DR phoneme found in the words druid, dragon, drek, drum, dream, drastic, and dread.

If you like Lyren...
which I had not heard but like since you mention it, you may like one of my very favorite names, related to Lyren by way of "lyre:" Allyriane (which I pronounce ah-lir-ree-ANN). I have found there are tons of variants: two Ls or one (Alyriane); begin with Al- or don't (Lyriane); one N or two (Allyrianne); drop the final E (Allyrian - now pronounced ah-LEER-ree-ehn); change the A to E (Allyriene) which could change the pronunciation and emphasis... The list goes on. You can mix and match the variant changes. Some of my favorite variations are Lyrienne (leer-ee-ENN) and Lyrian (LEER-ee-en, which sounds somewhat like the Japanese pronunciation of Lillian!).
I also like Carys, Juliet, Jett, and of course Scarlett. :)

Gavin Lorenzo is fantastic and Alyssa is very pretty!
David Alexander is my oldest son!
Named for my DH David, who doesn't care for his own mn, Harold, so I gave my son my all-time favorite favorite name, Alexander. (A while back there was a post about choosing your single favorite forever, only one, not one for boys and one for girls, and I chose Alexander.)
I also like Emmaline and James. Great taste, great choices!

Ruby Linnea - so perfect! My daughter is Ruby and for her middle name it was a toss between Leonor and Linnea. We chose Leonor but Linnea is still gorgeous!
Scarlett Matilda - as a sister of Ruby! YAY! Matilda is really growing on me right now.
Morgan Sophia - I'm glad to see someone else who loves Morgan for a girl! Sophia is gorgeous.
Ainslie Elissa - very cute! I love Ainslie...
Tegan Elodia - Tegan rocks but I dislike Elodia. Sorry!
Noah Brandon - I love Noah to bits but I dislike Brandon.
Maxen Brodie - cool! I like this combo a LOT!
Travis Blake - I really don't like Travis sorry! Blake is alright.
Ethan Corey - good flow and I like Ethan a lot.
Ruben Gabriel - Ruben is really cool but Gabriel strikes me as a girls name. I don't know why it just does!

Mahalia! *jumping up and down clapping hands*
Scarlett's full name is Lillian Scarlett Mahalia, which I dearly love. It's a family name. And her nn is Belle! In fact so is Sophie's; we have a habit of calling any little girl Belle, though ours are actually both Sissy Belle (sometimes mistaken for Isabelle).
Also really like Thaddeus!

In combos, mine would be:
Elisabeth Romaine
Edna Elizabeth
Mary Margaret
Susanna Elaine
Jane Evelyn
William Howard
Richard Lawrence
Cathal Lawrence
Oscar William
Hamon Stuart
Individually from your names I like Hannah, Grace, Benjamin, James, and Miles. I'm generally not big on double middle names, though.

Yeah, same here. :-) I don't even care how predictable that one is, I just really like it. I knew a girl by that name--it was what people always fully addressed her as--and looking back on it I think it just sounds so good.
