Aileen looks awkward and sounds pretty but dated, as does Eileen.
Aileen does not sound more modern to me because it's the EEN ending that makes it dated, not the long I sound (Isla feels modern, for example)

I didn't know how it was pronounced back then and am now asking about the Scottish pronunciation which I didn't do before ;)
