Liv
What do you think of Liv? Not as a nickname for Olivia (which I know will be the assumption), just as a stand-alone name. It’s been on my mind a lot lately. I think I like Liv Ariadne or Liv Theodosia. Something big and purple-y or yellow in the middle, anyway. Thank you! :)

Liv is a BEAUTIFUL name! It is pretty and spunky and full of life. I really like Liv Ariadne. A nice combo.

It’s always a stand alone name in Danish. It means Life in Danish. I like it.

I like the Danish meaning. I started trying to learn Danish after getting really into Borgen, but someone told me Duolingo was no good for it!

I just do not care for the name Liv but my opinion of not being fond of the name should have no bearing on if it can be a name that stands alone. I do believe it can stand alone.

I love it! I think Livvie is a sweet nn (for full name Liv) when she's younger. I agree that it needs a longer middle name, preferably starting with a consonant. Liv Theodosia is fantastic. How about:Liv Carolina
Liv Madelenna
Liv Demetria
Liv Juliana
Liv Celestia

Liv Demetria is brilliant!

Again, out of curiosity, do you feel the same way about other monosyllabic names? Also, words can’t describe how much I hate the name Olivia, haha.

I meant names more like Jane, ones that have a legitimate history as given names, much as Liv does :)

I often change my mind on names once I learn a bit more of the background :)

In my opinion, Liv is maybe OK as an occasional nickname for Olivia, but DEFINITELY NOT for a stand-alone name. It is too monosyllabic for a stand-alone name in my opinion. Liv Ariadne and Liv Theodosia are no-goes for me, unless Liv's real name is Olivia. I love all the names Olivia, Ariadne and Theodosia though. Maybe Liv as a middle name, but not my first choice. (i.e Ariadne Liv or Theodosia Liv).

It is a stand-alone name, though. Do you feel the same way about other monosyllabic names?
