I realized I have a crush on Aurora! I appreciate its classical background, positive meaning, and connection to Aurora Karamzin (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_Karamzin) whom I studied in my bachelor's theses (well, both of my theses focused more on her niece, countess Marie Linder, but I became familiar with Madame Karamzin's life as well in the process). Also, I have an ancestress named Amanda Aurora, so there's an honoring aspect to me as well.
The only problem is that if I ever have a daughter, I can't use Aurora as a first name because I have a cousin named Aura. And though I'm fine with using Aurora as a middle name, I think it's too beautiful a name to be hidden in the middle name slot. Also, I don't know any good nicknames to Aurora: Rory is cute in the anglophone context, but in Finland it sounds a bit awkward.
So, what do you think about Aurora? And what is your opinion of the Finnish pronunciation of it (OW-ro-rah, instead of ə-RAWR-ə in English)?
