Australian Newspaper Names- Gold Coast
Some of you might remember that last year I posted a MASSIVE list of names from the newspaper of children starting school in Ipswich, Australia (our school year starts in January/February). Well, I'm going to do that again soon, but first, this was my warm-up.
I've since moved to the Gold Coast and so this year I have 2 newspapers with listings of children starting school in 2019. Even though the Gold Coast is a bigger area than Ipswich, less schools have participated and so this is a smaller list (hence “warm-up”).
I tallied the names of all children from the 18 participating schools, I counted different spellings but, for simplicity, didn't include them here. These children are all 5 or turning 5 before the end of June. The most common names were:
Ava- 14 children
Oliver- 14
Sophia- 13
William- 13
Harrison- 11
Mia- 11
Chloe- 10
Isla- 10

I will post the full list as a reply for anyone who is interested in reading it.
Now I'll get started on the Ipswich tally. It will take me a while but it'll be interesting to compare it both with this list and with the list from the same area in 2018. Last year, Ruby and Jackson won out whereas Ava and Oliver topped this list. So I guess we'll see.
Any thoughts? Surprises? Likes? Dislikes?

Subaru is not a good idea. It sounds kinda silly even for a car.
Losaline sounds like some kind of goopy stuff, like Vaseline only maybe looser. Yuck.
Remedy for what?
And Hopper always makes me laugh, because here in the US, at least in this area, hopper is a rather old-fashioned but still popular slang word for the toilet.
I ate some Losaline by mistake and now I have the runs and can't get off the hopper.

Hi !!!
That's so interesting!
Before looking for them..
Can you recognize the Aboriginal names? Can you list them separatly?
There are a lot of variant names so I'd like that Aboriginal names are in a different list and not together with e.g. Zayden.
This is because I'm an editor and I'm currently improving the Indigenous Australian section. If I have a list of names currently used this would be a great basis to search their meanings and languages.
Can you help me, please? :)

It isn't an area with a particularly high Indigenous population. The only names that really stand out from this list are Alira/ Allira and Iluka. Both are already under user-submitted names. I can work on a list of names of people I know who identify as Aboriginal if you like =)

The only names on that list I would identify as being of Aboriginal origin are:
Alira/ Allira
Kirra
Iluka
