Y swapped in for I is a valid variant transcription for most Hebrew names (Orli / Orly, Shai / Shay. Others here: http://www.behindthename.com/submit/names/usage/hebrew/pattern/*y). Why couldn't you claim Remy was from Remiel?

Thanks for that info, that is true. There are a lot of Hebrew names in particular, that I like that end in i, so I'm not as fussed now tbh.
