This list ... just wow. Some interesting names but mostly just pain.
The good ones:
Ismene Vivianne —creative (not tryndee, but truly imaginative) and euphonious name. BTW don’t we have an
Ismene here?
Calvin Edward Invictus — love the
Calvin Edward part, and Invictus is a bold choice in the second middle slot.
David Tyler — he lucked out SO much with a much better name than his sibling.
Úna Heléne and
Yves Norman — naming perfection. Meaningful, balanced, creative without being ridiculous, nods to history. Their parents get an A+ for awesome naming skillz.
Maeve Genoveva — mixing name languages like this often doesn’t work, but I think this one does.
Bah, the usual trendy fare:
Harley Storm — it’s a baby, not a motorcycle.
Aerys
Adonis Moon — tries WAY too hard to be esoteric and just sounds like the name of a character in a bad fantasy novel.
Atlas Montgomery —
Atlas is a big name to live up to, and honestly most don’t fit the bill. This will be especially ironic on a kid who grows up to be nerdy and not very physically fit.
Calla Jo — This seems cutesy and incomplete.
Calla isn’t terrible but the
Jo part ...
Josephine would have been so much better.
Nyxie
Renee —
Nyx is a really interesting, strong, “underused classic” name that I’d love to see used more. Adding an -ie takes it out of the “interesting old Greek” category and puts it firmly in the “yet another trendy cutesy girl name” box.
Egads:
Cayde Listen — this kid will spend the rest of his life explaining that his name doesn’t have an N at the end.
Cade is a decent name but spelling it this way is just asking for confusion (and listen isn’t a name!).
Brazos Oak — Brazos is the Spanish word for arms. Is there any connotation here I’m missing?
Shawn Shorty
James —
Shawn James would have been a fine name, but they had to fetch it up with Shorty. Good grief, it’s not an actual name! They could have named him
Shawn James and just called him Shorty as an NN.
Swayzee — why? And why add an extra E?
Tupac — naming him after a rapper from 20 years ago and then giving him no middles. Why?!
Sunnee
Autumn — good grief this is way too cutesy and themey and just — no. Spelling it
Sunny would have been marginally better.
