Yes! This.Despite how it’s supposed to be pronounced, all it takes is one teacher to mistakenly call out “SUN-uh-vuh” at roll call and it’s a lifelong problem.

Isn't it pronounced "sue-NEE-va" though?
"SUN-iv-a" sounds terrible, I agree.

Yes, that's the pronunciation, but whenever I see Sunniva, my brain reverts to "son of a." :(

I always thought it was pronounced su-NEE-va? That would avoid the “son of a” problem.

I didn’t know that. That honestly makes me like this name a LOT less. SOON-ee-vuh doesn’t really have a sound I like.
