Rosalind and Rosalyn
What do you think of Rosalind? Do you pronounce the final D? Do you pronounce the first syllable as ROZ or ROSE (short vs long O)?Do you prefer Rosalyn?

I definitely prefer Rosalyn. Whenever I hear a name ending with -lind or -mund. I automatically think it's a boy's name. Rosamund sounds like a masculine name with -mund ending. ----------------Favorites:Audrey, Martha, Lydia, Phoebe, Veronica, Matilda, Rita, Victoria, Mildred, Edwina, Clara, Jocelyn, Apolonia, FlorenceAnthony, Damien, Alexander, Valentine, Maximilian, James, Daniel, Vincent, Matthew, Andreas, Theodore, Christopher----------------Rate my PNL: http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/166097/112886

Rosalind! I like Rosalyn, too, but Rosalind looks more complete. I say it with a short o and the final D.

I like both, but prefer Rosalind, I do prn it with the Roz sound. Rosalyn is also pretty if you prefer the Rose prn. :)

I've only ever heard ROZalind, and yes, the D is sounded. I think of it as Horse + Snake, which makes a short O necessary - if it was Pretty Rose it'd be a long O.For Rosalyn, I'd expect ROSEalyn, I'd assume it was Rosa + Lyn, and I don't like it. Rosalind is fine and has got an excellent Shakespearean connection: I used to avoid it for personal reasons, but that's faded.

I don't like Rosalind or Rosalyn, but I do like the similar Rosamund.I pronounce the final D, and the first syllable as ROZ.

I say ROZ-uh-lind. I think that way it isn't to sweet sound with Rose and the lin/lynn sound. I really like it because of Rosalind Franklin, and I'm trying to find somewhere to put it in the middle as a nod to her. Plus I love the vintage aspect. I don't like Rosalyn much. It doesn't look as pleasant, and I think the d ending of Rosalind finishes it off nicely.

I love Rosalind I think it's sweet but elegant. I also love Rosalin (this spelling only) not sure which I prefer but both are on my list of possibilities for my next child. I pronounce Roz-uh-lind and Roz-uh-lin

I prefer Rosalind over Rosalyn by far, pronounced with a short O and the final D.I think it's a very sophisticated name.
