exactly as meaningful for him as you make it, good OR bad. If he has the clear impression that his name upsets you, he'll ultimately feel bad about himself, even if he himself doesn't necessarily realize it. I would strongly recommend that you lose the bad part of the explanation and focus on his namesake tie to his father. I know a John Johnson and a David McDavid. They act, deliberately, as though their repetitive names are the coolest thing in the world.Try to think positively about your son rather than negatively about his grandparents, or his name.
