Seeing the recent negative comments about Mandy made me think of Mindy. I had a friend named Mindy. In her case, it was a nickname for Melinda. She once commented that she hated her full name Melinda and would never want to be called it on a regular basis. I surmise then that she liked her nickname Mindy, or at least found it far preferable to Melinda.
