I'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but I was thinking about this the other day when I was looking at names. When there's a name that has an original pronunciation, but you know that most people where you live will say it differently, which version do you go with? Or even a name that just has multiple accepted pronunciations. Would you use one and let the child know that there are other ways that the name is said? Would you just avoid a name altogether if it has this issue?
Some examples:
Ottilie- pronounced like Ot-til-lee, instead of o-TEE-lee-ə
Ophelie- O-feel-lee, instead of o-fay-LEE
Lucia- loo-SEE-ə
Helena- Hel-en-ah or Hel-lain-ah
