Gilbert as in Gilbert Blythe? Great choice. I love the name Gilbert with the cool nn Gil.
Josephine for Jo March is awesome. She was such a great character in American literature. Love it. My mother used to want to have four girls and name them Meg, Jo, Beth & Amy. (Although, I don't like the nn Josie because I think of Josie Pye, also from Anne of Green Gables).
Laura and Almanzo also. Just don't call him Manly!
Lottie is cute.
Dicken sounds awkward, since his last name was Dickens. I think Dickens could be a cool mn to honor that author but wouldn't use it as a first name. (Also, his friends might give him the nn of Dick).
