Re: Josephine? (and some others)

Fern - Very cute, but for some reason it conjures up a lot of personalities for me and none are good - maybe as a middle name?
Karana - Is this pronounced kuh-RAH-nuh? Interesting, if a bit too much in the Karen/Karina/Karenna mold.
Laura (another so mainstream that I probably wouldn't use it) - It's been growing on me lately. Has a nice sound, though I prefer the Italian LOW-ra (OW like in pOWer)
Lottie (I'm absolutely sick of Charlotte, mes amis) - Seems vulgar to me, don't know why. I don't like nicknames as full names either, though.
Nymphadora :D - Will be called Nymphomaniac, lol. I'm not a fan of names with so many parts that can be traced back to the Greek, really. Dora is terrific, though.
Thursday - Works better as a boys name in my opinion, with the Thur (Thurgood, Thurman, Theron, etc.)
Almanzo - Seems a bit confused, like Almond+Alonzo
Dicken - I prefer other diminuitives for Richard. I think Rickey or Ricky could actually be super-charming.
Gilbert - Not bad! A bit Gilbert Grape. My -bert hierarchy goes something like 1)Robert 2)Albert 3)Gilbert 4)Herbert 5)Humbert, etc.
Jonas - Reminds me of the Weezer song, and I don't like Weezer. Also reminds me of the book The Giver (my favorite when I was about 10). That Jonas is a wonderful character.
Nathaniel "Nat" (I would never call him Nate--I loathe it and Nathan) - Nice, although I would prefer the full Nathaniel.
Ramo (RAY-mo) - I would never pronounce this RAY-mo at first sight. Prefer simply Ray.
