Rose is very much its own name, I don't think people will assume its a nickname at all! If you named her Rosie, then they would. I love how simple and sophisticated Rose feels on its own. I also love the imagery I get from it, it involves a dark room, candles, and a mahogany piano (no roses!). :) I went to high school with a Rose who made me like it a bit too, so no bad associations for me.
