The crazy names of celebrity kids
Do you agree that celebrity kids have odd names? Why's that?
Here are some names of celebrity kids I cannot stand...
Harper Beckhams middle name is Seven! Her mother wants her to be girly and Seven sounds like the boys name Evan! Harper is a surname! Not a cute name.
One celebrity (don't know who) named his daughter Moxie Crimefighter. I'm serious.
Jessica Alba named her daughters Honor and Haven. Haven sounds like Heaven and Honor is a word!
Angelina Jolie has three sons, Maddox, Knox and Pax. Her girls, Vivienne, Zahara and Shiloh have okay names. Pax sounds like Packs, Knox sounds like Knots and Maddox sounds like mad docks.
Do you agree? What other crazy celebrity names do you know of?

How do Heaven and Haven sound alike?
They're spelled like, yes, but sound alike? No. It really bugs me.

Eh, most of them are along the same lines as non-celebs who feel comfy enough to get creative with names. I find the unnamey names like Moxie Crimefighter pretty nauseating, though. I feel like Frank Zappa started the trend for celebs to give kids whacky names - he probably didn't, but I heard of his kids first. Thing is, Zappa was making a particular statement; his whole schtick was counterculture. That doesn't redeem it, but it does make the names seem as much of a legacy as a gimmick. Current celeb whacky naming is just a cynical statement of status. I think the whackiest ones are pretty gross because they seem to say "my child isn't a mere human" and that attitude seems like a nasty thing to be born burdened with. Moxie can't ever just be who she wants to be, because first she'll have to be the celeb's daughter MOXIE CRIMEFIGHTER, how fabulous! .. always, her whole life, like she can't ever do anything on merit ever .. she may have well have been named Daddy's Entitled Status Symbol Kissmyass TM. Just having a famous surname and your name announced widely at birth, ought to be enough with the status. Like Frances Bean Cobain (which I don't count as nauseatingly gimmicky).
I think celeb baby names are great. Like, what's the point of being a celebrity if you can't do whatever the hell you want.
You basically listed off all of my favorites too. I love the Pitt-Jolie kids' names. They're excellent. Not super heard of before their births/adoptions, but not super crazy off the wall so it's unapproachable. Like, other people hear these names and go "OH neat I've never thought of that but I LIKE IT" and that's why Maddox, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox gained popularity. It's okay that Pax didn't, because it's a feminine name. Too bad about Zahara.
Also your arguements against them are terrible? "Pax sounds like Packs?" Yes thank you for the pronunciation guide, did you also know that Noah sounds like "no, uh"?
Haven and Honor are both words. WOW. That's terrible, no one else ever used words as names before. Actually both of these names are nice and while I prefer Haven on a boy, I see no problem here?
Harper Seven is like... not that original? I know she got a lot of "omg crazy" comments but I DONT GET WHY? People have been using Harper on a girl for years. And people have used Seven before too. Like, non celebrity people were doing this before her.
And names don't automatically define personality. She can be girly and have a "boy's name" (NO its not even a boys name, it's a WORD! Which is the same naming sin (apparently) that Jessica Alba committed. Gaaasp).
Moxie Crimefighter is cool. Whatever. Crimefighter is cool. I saw a BA once for Ella Firedancer. Like, I think if you're about to give your daughter the middle name Marie and you have no family reason to do so, you should stop and consider using two words mashed together that sound like an awesome career. Sophia Marie? No. Sophia Vampirehunter. Moxie is a word that doesn't strike me as negative, plus it sounds like Maxie. It's cool! and it's a celebrity kid! Like do you really think this child is going to have trouble in school really

Word, I wish more people named their kids like celebs. I mean, christ, we don't have name laws, why doesn't our culture take advantage of that. But no, everyone wants to name their kids Brayden James and Presley Elizabeth, so if I want to name my kid something cool it has to be making a big fat statement. Harrumph.
Ahaha, yes! Ella Firedancer is actually an awesome name. Oh, new things to play with.
I'm totally naming my daughter Sophia Vampirehunter. And her twin (invariably in my family) will be Haven Fireswallower.
I agree with pretty much all of this (and I don't think I ever thought of Haven on a boy but I kinda like it now), except I don't like Blue Ivy. It makes me think of the ivy plant but an ugly shade of blue that is sticky and smells bad. I don't know why. But agree 100% with everything else.

I don't care for Blue Ivy either but I also don't see anything wrong with it. I was actually hoping for something more original from them, Blue's been used several times by other celebrities before them.
Indigo would have been better than Blue.
Beyonce named Blue Ivy after her favorite color and his favorite number.
Does having personal meaning make it less "crazy" than some of the names you listed in the original post?
I'm just wondering.
I'm just wondering.
I still think it sounds stupid. And that criteria wouldn't be enough to name my daughter that. The imagery is so so bad in my head. But personal choices are just that, personal.
Yeah, it just sounds like something an eighth grader would name her kid. Meaningful, sure, but still dumb.

Fifi Trixibelle.
I like Honor, it's pretty and relatively "normal". Fifi Trixibelle Geldof and her sister Peaches, on the other hand....
Actually, I remember a funny joke from a British comedian about the Geldof names (might have been Irish, Dara O'Briain, can't remember). Anyways, he was saying something about Bob Geldof calling him a rude name because of a joke he'd made, and his comeback was "Well, it's still better than being called Fifi Trixibelle."

Trixibelle? I agree Honor is better.
Harper Lee, Author of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' was a woman so I don't have any problem with that. Plus, surnames are "in" right now anyway. And I think Seven is kind of a GP type of name. :)
I already knew about Moxie Crimefighter. It's always on the list of weird celebrity baby names. I'm probably just desensitized to it so I don't care about it.
Honor has been a name for a long time so I don't see what's wrong. Haven sounding like Heaven doesn't seem to me as a bad thing. I don't like either and wouldn't use them though. All of those are words, btw. Heaven Leigh Surname was a girl at my school who was, er, easily persuaded to break her "not before marriage" vows. A lot of jokes were made.
I like Maddox and Pax (latin for peace). I like Knox, too, although more for a surname.
So I mostly disagree. There are some ridiculously horrible names out there for celebrity kids. I feel like they get away with it because of their socioeconomic standing.
Gwyneth Paltrow named her daughter Apple. Beyonce has Blue Ivy. Those are pretty terrible imo. But I don't keep track of which baby name goes to which celebrity so I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

I like Seven a lot, but prefer it on a boy. I think it's all right as a middle name. Middle names hardly get used anyway from my experience, so you can go pretty much crazy with them. Harper is a common girls name by now.
I like Haven and I don't mind Honor. Haven is also a word.
I like Shiloh (prefer it for a boy) and Zahara. Vivienne is cute. I don't mind Pax but don't care for the others. And yes, Maddox sounds like mad docks to me as well.
Moxie's is the only really unusual one on the list, in my opinion. These are all not too crazy.
The crazy ones are: Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily (but I like Tiger and Lily so she has options and I don't think it's too horrible) and Peanut.
I don't think having a crazy name is necessarily a bad thing. My friend has a pretty crazy one (I won't say what it is because she's likely the only person on the planet who has it) and likes it. I'd rather have a crazy name than be another Isabella (don't get me wrong, I like Isabella, I just wouldn't want to share my name with so many people).

There was a Heaven in my first and second grade. She moved away after that. Honore is a name, so why not Honor? Harper isn't that crazy imo, no where near Moxie Crimefighter or Audio Science. Knox, if I remember correctly, is a family name. Maddox, Pax, Vivienne, Zahara and Shiloh aren't that out-there either.
I'm not a fan of Seven, either, but at least it's hidden as the mn.
Not all celebrity baby names are odd. Only the odd ones, the ones you don't like, and the very rare, like Peaches and Moses, stand out in your memory.

Penn Jillette named his daughter Moxie CrimeFighter, and I actually like that name.
I don't see anything wrong with Honor or Haven. Those are legit names, and really not that weird. I like Harper for a girl, and while I think Seven is cheesy, it's just her middle name. I don't think it's a big deal.
I like the Jolie-Pitt names, AND the Zappa names. I also like Audio Science. I may be the only person in the world who does.

I like Audio Science too. Like Audio could totally be a name? There's already some names that start with Aud- and loads of names that end in -io. Lots of names that end in -ence too. They're all really good sounds!
That's exactly what I like about it, the sound. They probably just call him Audio anyway, and I think it's cool.
