I'm afraid I'm one of the ones who finds it unattractive. I think of blancmange which is horrible and blobby and white, so I imagine it on a person who is blobby and white!

I also think of the word "bland" and of blanched almonds - neither of which are pretty or interesting either.

I think I blanch at the mention of the name Blanche. I pretty much dislike it to that extent. I see the classy appeal of most of the names in its same category, but not this one. :(

I'm not super-into it, but I find it pleasant enough and wouldn't mind it on someone else's child. We're separated from "The Golden Girls" by enough years now that the image of the character on there named Blanche may have faded or just never been there for some people.

I'm the same way. I thought it was unattractive and "old" sounding. But, as with a few names now, I'm starting to like them and wanting to use them.

I really dislike it, and always have, sorry. It's just too harsh sounding to my ears, and I can't get past that.

I associate it with The Golden Girls. But mostly I just can't find the sound attractive. In my accent, "anch" is probably the most hideous sounding syllable ever. It's like super nasally to the extent of hurting to speak it. Same for the word ranch.

I'm conflicted. We had a client who named her daughter Blanche, and I was delighted, thinking it was elegant, pretty, sophisticated, and sadly neglected. She was an adorable baby, who grew into an adorable toddler, who grew into a really unpleasant and creepy girl. Blanche lost a lot of its charm when attached to a charmless person, and I just thought of "blanch" after that--bloodless tissue and boiled vegetables.

I've come to think if Blanche as being somewhat like Agnes & Kermit: It's a name that's cool when attached to the right person but hard to pull off when it's not.

Oh, I love Blanche! It's fiery but demure and oh so sophisticated.

I love Blanche, at least pronounced in French. :)

I immediately thought of Blanche Ingram! Which isn't actually the best association, because she was rather shallow and cruel, I thought. It also reminds me of the verb to blanch, which isn't very positive either. It's not my style. Maybe it's the B, which I usually hate.
