I once got into an elevator, followed by the sweetest little old couple. When I mean little, the man was probably 5'5" and the woman barely made 5'. He assisted her, saying, "This way,
Violet." When they got off the elevator another woman said she was going to have another child just so she could call her
Violet. She was joking nicely, but we were all smiling with the sweetness of that couple. This was in the mid 1990s.
I'm so pleasantly surprised by
Violet's rise in popularity. I know she's part of the overall trend in floral names. I guess I just love that trend. I have an easier time using her as a mn (
Mina Violet is a stock combo that springs to mind.) And I have to suppress the urge to combine
Violet with
Seraphina; it sounds lovely but of course the celebrity association takes it over and is distracting. (That could be a whole thread in itself: combining usable celebrity children's names . . . hmmm.)
Anyway, two enthusiastic thumbs up for
Violet. :-)
