I do like it a lot, but prefer it more for a mn than a fn.

I really really like it. It is sweet, old fashioned, pretty. It also has a unique sound in that not too many other names sound similar to Violet.

I like it, if you can't tell by my posting name. When I joined this site, I really loved the name Violet. Now I just like it, but still enough to consider it for a kid in the future. It's pretty and feminine without being overly frilly, and Letty makes a cute nickname.

It's not exciting to me, but it's ok.

I like it. I think it's a nice flower name, but not as cutesey or popular as Lily, Daisy, Rosie etc. Unfortunately I sometimes think it looks like the word "violent" - this sort of ruins it for me.

I love the imagery the name evokes--the shades of violets, the flowers themselves. I don't love the nn Vi, but do like a great deal the name Violet in and of itself. Like Juliet, I think it's tricky to find mn's that work really well with it.

I'm torn. One second I just can't get self-absorobed Violet from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" out of mt head. Ugh. But the next moment I think Vi or Vio would be such awesome nicknames for a little Violet.

I love it, but then I'm biased, as it's my middle name. It was the name my Fijian grandmother adopted when she moved to England, as her Fijian name was rather complicated, hence it's use as my middle name.

I once got into an elevator, followed by the sweetest little old couple. When I mean little, the man was probably 5'5" and the woman barely made 5'. He assisted her, saying, "This way, Violet." When they got off the elevator another woman said she was going to have another child just so she could call her Violet. She was joking nicely, but we were all smiling with the sweetness of that couple. This was in the mid 1990s.

I'm so pleasantly surprised by Violet's rise in popularity. I know she's part of the overall trend in floral names. I guess I just love that trend. I have an easier time using her as a mn (Mina Violet is a stock combo that springs to mind.) And I have to suppress the urge to combine Violet with Seraphina; it sounds lovely but of course the celebrity association takes it over and is distracting. (That could be a whole thread in itself: combining usable celebrity children's names . . . hmmm.)

I actually like it. I never really think about it much.

I like it. The V makes it sound brave and bold, even though it's a flower name. It also sounds sort of regal and stately, as well as old-fashioned, but not so much that I'd be surprised to meet a modern-day Violet. It also ages well.
