I like Georgie but I really detest Marnie. I don't know what for, but it just rubs me the wrong way.Marnie: Marina, any Mary name, Marta / Martha. Otherwise, you probably could use it on its own.Georgie: Georgia, Georgiana (jor-JAH-nah rather than Georgie-Ana), Georgette, Georgeanne, Georgianne, Georgina, Georgetta. I definitely wouldn't use this on its own--it's too "Georgie Girl" for me then.Array

I don't care for Marnie, but I love Georgie! Marnie I think is fine as a full name, because it sounds good for both a little girl and a grown woman; Georgie, on the other hand, is adorable for a girl but I can't really imagine a woman with this name, especially if she's in any profession where you have to be taken seriously :) So I'd use the legal name of Georgia, call her Georgie, and let her decide when she grows up if she wants to keep or throw away the nick name.

I think Marnie (I prefer Marni) is a great full name in its own right. For Georgie, I love Georgiana._____________________________________________________________________Elinor"I couldn't imagine somebody like Osama bin Laden understanding the joy of Hanukkah."

Hmm, I love Georgie as a nn for either Georgina or Georgia, but Marnie is not my style. What about Marlie as a nn for Marlowe?

For Marnie, I have no idea except maybe Margaret or Marguerite. I have seen the name Marnie before, on both genders, actually. As for Georgie, I LOVE it, but only as a nn, of course. I love several George- names, incl. Georgette (my mn), Georgia, Georgina, Georgianne, Georgiana, Georgine, etc. ~Heather~

Oh! I almost forgot about Georgiana! That's one of my favorite names that was used by Jane Austen! What a way to honor my favorite author!
I also like Georgina.Mariana is really nice I like it better than Marianne & Marina. Thanks for your help! :)

Thanks for your suggestions!
Georgina is rather cute! I don't really like Georgia because it's a name of a state and it just seems like a 'southern-belle' name to me. *shrug* I rather like Marissa but I don't know if it would work very well for Marnie and I don't really like Martine. :(Thanks!Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I think Marnie is a sweet nickname. :-) I think it could probably work for anything with a 'Mar' sound and maybe an 'n' in it, since it's not a popular nn that's already been established for anything else. Names that I thought it could go with included:Margaret
Marianne
Marina
Marlena
Marjolaine
MarcelineI don't like Georgie as much but I do like the name Georgia. As far as full names for Georgie go, the only ones I could think of were the obvious ones ('Georg' with whatever feminine ending). :-)

Thank you, I like Margaret but I don't think Marnie works very well for it. :(
Marianne is pretty and a bit better because it has an N in it. Marina seems the closest but I don't think I really like it. :(
I do like Marlena though, do you think it would really work? Also would the pronounciation mar-lay-nah work?I'm not too keen on Georgia, perhaps I should look some more at the feminine forms of George! Thanks again! :)Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I say it mar-LAY-nah. :-) I think it would really work, too. Marnie is such an unused nickname that I don't think anyone would question any name you used it for.
