Well, it's because we wouldn't know what's considered dated in another country...but I'm sure you already knew that. :)

Yeah, names like that don't sound dated to us because we don't know any. I love the name Sven, and a lot of the German and Slavic names I like are dated too (my favorite girls' name is considered middle-aged!). When I fall for a Scandinavian name, I like to check out its popularity - most of my favorites peaked in the 30s-50s. :PBut yeah, getting back to Ozma's point, for example, I had no idea Torbjorn was dated until someone told me (I think it was Caprice?) - the first one I'd ever heard of is in his 20s, and he's an exception.
