Eitan/ Eytan is Hebrew and Ethan is the Anglicized version. But still, the most likely spelling in Italian would be Eitan. My husband is Italian and doesn't think this is a name that is considered exclusively Italian, although he is from Southern Italy so usage could be more common in the north?

Yes, we didn't think so either. But considering the differences between the regions we weren't entirely sure. In the original post it was said the father said it was 'the Italian form', and that's what I was responding to mostly.
