I love anthing associated with ancient history. So the city of Troy should be a positive association for me. Unfortunately, I've never been able to get 1950's teen idol Troy Donohue out of my head. I associate the name Troy therefore with plastic, superficial, trendy pop culture without the interesting post-60's bits. I put Troy in the same category of names as Biff and Rock. I wish I didn't.

Funny you should say that. My brother worked with a guy who had three sons, two of whom were named Troy and Buddy. The third one was called Rocky or something. These names stuck out in 1990s Ireland as you can imagine.
