Lorelei has been growing on me lately, but despite the Germanic origins of the nema, I tend to pronounce the 'ei' letter combination as a long 'a' sound (e.g. Leila). The spelling Lorelai was used on Gilmore Girls for the title characters, and the 'ai' ending makes more sense in my head, although this spelling is far less common. And then I met someone once with the spelling Laurelie, pronounced like Lorelei. Visually it was pretty, but the pronunciation seemed counter-intuitive.
