Re: Dorothy!
Yay, Dorothy! She's so undeservedly overlooked, even by me and I like her. I don't find her weak at all. She's fresh and bubbly and yet down to earth at the same time. I put her in the same category as Susan and Anne. I picture a young woman in the time of the English civil war, the 1600's. I love most of the usual nns like Dot / Dottie, Dora / Dorie / Dory, Doro, Dodie, Dee.Dorothy is nice as a nn for Dorothea, which is pronounced, "do-ro-THEE-uh," by th way. But I wouldn't ever use Dorothea as an alternate spelling of Dorothy. Dorothy can stand on her own quite well, of course. I just wanted to point out that the two names aren't pronounced the same way.Dorothy Kay
