It is the name of my cousin's cat so I think of him :)

I really like it as a pet's name but do think it has a distinguished older man feel to it. (I have seen Rollin too and I hate that)

I think it is usable. It falls in a class with Simon, Percy, Alistair, Charles.

I like your combos with Roland as a first name better than as a middle name.

I agree. It does have a similar feel to Simon, Percy, Charles, etc. Do you think it's a pretentious name?

I think the group as a whole is kind of pretentious but Roland is the fun, everybody's friend, more down to earth one of the group.
