Re: Norman?
in reply to a message by RowenaRavenclaw
It was the movie, "Legends Of The Fall" which changed my mind on Norman quite some years back. Prior, I could only see Norman as a stuffy old man but the character in the film, from whose point of view the story is told, is seen from childhood to old age and is a bright, handsome, good-hearted, decent fella. Can't help but like him, and it has softened me to the name. Not sure I would go for it as a first name, but I agree it would make a fine middle name. (It even looks as though I've likely got Norman ancestry.) I've never tried to pair Norman, and I'm not sure what sorts of names you like really: Octavius Norman?...
Alastair Norman
Aurelius Norman
Barnaby Norman
Cassius Norman
Cedrick Norman
Clive Norman
Cyrus Norman
Elias Norman
Ellery Norman
Frederick Norman - actually I like Norman Frederick better.
Gray Norman
Miles Norman
Samuel Norman
Theodore Norman
Timothy Norman
Tolbert Norman
Vincent Norman
Westley Norman

Octavius Norman is gorgeous!
Actually, you've got quite a handle on names that I like. I liked:
Alastair Norman
Aurelius Norman
Barnaby Norman - LOVE this!
Cedrick Norman - this might be a little TOO Nanny McPhee (Cedric was the name of the father in the first movie)
Clive Norman
Elias Norman
Frederick Norman
Miles Norman
Timothy Norman
Tolbert Norman - This caught my eye; I've never heard of Tolbert before, but is it weird that the resemblance to 'tollbooth' is what draws me?
Westley Norman - would've prefered Wesley Norman, but Westley is quite fine, too (reminds me of The Princess Bride).

"My dear sweet Westley"...
...I can't help but adore it; what can I say? :)
Didn't know about the Cedrick & Norman - "McPhee" connection, sorry. I was wondering if the Cedrick - "Potter" connection was too great.
Tolbert is the name of an ancestor of mine. Didn't know about him until I discovered him in the census records. Just liked his name because it was refreshingly different. Had to laugh at 'tollbooth'...strange, maybe, but whatever works for you! :)

Buttercup is a GP for me, too. ;)
Cedric isn't too "Potter" for me; actually, Vincent Norman is also too "McPhee," as Norman's younger brother is Vincent.
Tolbert...Probably too close to Albert for me to ever use, though. *sigh*
