Norman?
Nanny McPhee has worked her magic again! In the first movie, I was utterly charmed into loving the name Agatha 'Aggie'. Now, she's made me love Norman, a name that, had you asked me a few weeks ago, I would have said "Ha! I'll never love that name!". In my family, it is the name of a couple of weird cousins and was the name of a cat, but I can't help loving it, now!So, what do you think of Norman? Any combo suggestions (first or middle)? I think I'd only use it as a middle name because of the weird cousins and the cat and to avoid the nickname 'Norm'.

I liked Norman...until Norman Bates.

I love Norman! I've sort of liked it since I was a kid. It's so kind and fun-loving, but also very handsome. I think I first started liking it because of A River Runs Through It. I couldn't entirely picture it on a kid today, though, until I met someone with a 2 year old Norman. It's perfect. Lucky you that it's a name in your family! Double reason for you to use it!My Norman combos:
Norman Cecil
Norman James - the name of my friend's son, I love the combo
Norman Mackenzie
Norman Peter
Quincy Norman

We're not exactly close to those cousins (because they are, as I mentioned, weird), so I wouldn't consider it a "family" name, although it technically is. I can just imagine my mother's reaction when I tell her I've started liking Norman...I quite like Norman Cecil and Quincy Norman.

Norman was my grandfather's name. We were really close. He was an amazing person who despite coming to to this country not knowing a word of English propelled himself to being one of the most influential and successful men in our small town. I decided a long time ago that my first son was going to be Charles Norman in honor of him. Norman to me will always be a very gentle name.

That's so nice, Jade Diana! *wipes tear*An older Norman does seem like a gentle man (note the space), doesn't he?

It was the movie, "Legends Of The Fall" which changed my mind on Norman quite some years back. Prior, I could only see Norman as a stuffy old man but the character in the film, from whose point of view the story is told, is seen from childhood to old age and is a bright, handsome, good-hearted, decent fella. Can't help but like him, and it has softened me to the name. Not sure I would go for it as a first name, but I agree it would make a fine middle name. (It even looks as though I've likely got Norman ancestry.) I've never tried to pair Norman, and I'm not sure what sorts of names you like really: Octavius Norman?...Alastair Norman
Aurelius Norman
Barnaby Norman
Cassius Norman
Cedrick Norman
Clive Norman
Cyrus Norman
Elias Norman
Ellery Norman
Frederick Norman - actually I like Norman Frederick better.
Gray Norman
Miles Norman
Samuel Norman
Theodore Norman
Timothy Norman
Tolbert Norman
Vincent Norman
Westley Norman

Octavius Norman is gorgeous!Actually, you've got quite a handle on names that I like. I liked:Alastair Norman
Aurelius Norman
Barnaby Norman - LOVE this!
Cedrick Norman - this might be a little TOO Nanny McPhee (Cedric was the name of the father in the first movie)
Clive Norman
Elias Norman
Frederick Norman
Miles Norman
Timothy Norman
Tolbert Norman - This caught my eye; I've never heard of Tolbert before, but is it weird that the resemblance to 'tollbooth' is what draws me?
Westley Norman - would've prefered Wesley Norman, but Westley is quite fine, too (reminds me of The Princess Bride).

"My dear sweet Westley"......I can't help but adore it; what can I say? :)Didn't know about the Cedrick & Norman - "McPhee" connection, sorry. I was wondering if the Cedrick - "Potter" connection was too great.Tolbert is the name of an ancestor of mine. Didn't know about him until I discovered him in the census records. Just liked his name because it was refreshingly different. Had to laugh at 'tollbooth'...strange, maybe, but whatever works for you! :)

Buttercup is a GP for me, too. ;)Cedric isn't too "Potter" for me; actually, Vincent Norman is also too "McPhee," as Norman's younger brother is Vincent.Tolbert...Probably too close to Albert for me to ever use, though. *sigh*
