BABY GIRL???What were they thinking?! Unless, something happened? Like adoption or death? But even then, why would they announce it without a name?

Needn't be sinister.I had a baby in a country I don't live in, and had to buy an air ticket before the birth: gender unknown. It was issued to INF Mysurname, INF being short for Infant though it looks like initials. I spent 12 airborne hours, on and off, inventing names to fit INF - one must do something - as far as I recall, the winner was Ignatius Norman Ferdinand.

INFIgnatius Norman Ferdinand is, I think, my number one new favourite name. What DID you name your infant?? :)

YeahThat name is incredibly cool.

Hey, calm down. People often announce the birth of 'Baby Girl' or 'Baby Boy' for a variety of reasons, including not having decided upon a name yet.

If wbbuff got these off the internetIt would not be uncommon. I see Baby Girl, Baby, Baby Boy, Z, X, all the time, to fill in the spot. People want to show off their cute little baby, but haven't come up with a name yet.If it's in a newspaper or something, I am baffled, but it is, most likely, just filler.

They are BA's from the local hospital. Pictures, weight and everything. It's amazing how many people don't have names for their babies yet. My grandfather's birth certificate was Baby Boy for about 3 weeks before his mother decided on a name for him.

"Baby Girl/Boy Surname" is often put on hospital records if the people leave the hospital before naming the child. You are not obligated to name a baby before you leave the hospital (I think you have a week or something), so sometimes the records won't show the name. I am pretty sure that is why the name "Baby" shows up on the popularity charts occasionally. Though I'm sure somewhere out there is a person named Baby.

Yeah...I know someone who said they were "Boy (last name)" for awhile after birth XD

Believe it or not, Boy really exists as a given name. A Frisian one, to be exact ;-)That was off-topic, but I felt like mentioning it. Sorry...

I would freak out if I only had a week to name my baby after the birth =P
Here in Sweden we have three months to name the baby after the birth!

In Iceland you have six months.Crazy.

I didn't put any in that weren't named. The BA will just say Baby Boy or Baby Girl if they don't have a name. I think we have 10 days though.

I think its 10 days in Alberta.3 months is a long time to go without a name!

In England I think it is more than a week, because my Aunt was at least a week naming my cousin. Three months is ages though, would you just call it "the baby" for three whole months?

I really don't know how long you have here - I would hope it's more than a week too!
