Re: WDYT of Edith?

Growing up in the 70's the name Edith was forever tied to the character Edith Bunker in "All in the Family." If you've never seen the show, Edith is a loveable, but hopelessly frumpy house wife. And that's the image I had of the name Edith. But then I learned that Edith was popular in Victorian times because it was part of the Anglo-Saxon / medieval retro-thing they loved. One of the great beauties of England was Edith Aylesford (sp?). So I began to see Edith in a new light. Names that transport me back in time delight me. An Anglo-Saxon maiden named Edith began to take poor Mrs. Bunker's place in my mind. The soft "-ith" part was intriguing. Then, I fell in love with the adorable nn Edie. So Edith, nn Edie, is aces in my book now. Love it to pieces.Ruby, Vivi, Bess and Edie are adorable together. I especially love Edie and Bess. (I thought I was the only person who liked Bess as a nn.)Edith Margaret / Marjorie
Edith Morwenna
Edith Matilda / Maude
Edith Eleanor
Edith Frances
Edith Winifred (too much "ed?")
Edith Beatrice
Edith Josephine
Edith Imelda
Edith Gwendolen
Edith Muriel
Edith Johanna
Edith Lavinia
Edith Bernadette
Edith Germaine
Edith Horatia
Edith Hortensia
Edith Charlotte
Edith Wilhelmina
Edith Cornelia
Edith Sibyl / Sibylla ("si-BILL-uh")
Edith Fidelma
Edith Marianne / Marion
Edith Cora
Edith Bryony
Edith Griselda (Why not? It's so pretty)
Edith ClaraWhat sayest thou? Sorry for any repeats. Thanks.
