Ennis?
Do you like it? I'm not quite sure. How do you pronounce it? Is it like EE-nis? or like Dennis with out the D?

I know a person with this surname, pronounced like Dennis without the D. I dislike it as a fn.

EE-nis and I hate it.

I quite like it but I see it as unusable in Ireland. I have friends and family members who live in Ennis. It's said Enn-is like Dennis without a D. It comes from Inis/Inish the Irish for Island.

I prn it like EH-nis. I used to like it, but now it reminds me too much like Dennis, a name I loathe. I prefer Innes (IH-nis).

I like it very much, but the Brokeback Mountain association dominates the name. Also the "anus" soundalike. It sounds just too teaseable, to me.

It's exactly like Dennis minus the D.I really like it. I used to go back and forth between Ennis and Innes, as to which I liked more. I've settled on Ennis. It feels more finished.Huh. This site has it as a unisex name. I've only ever heard / seen it on males. Girls have enough names. I'd like to see Ennis stay in the male only category. Note to self: must use Ennis more in combinations / suggestions. :-)

I like it for a boy, but prefer Ellis.

EN-niss. I'm reminded of the city in western Ireland and that it's the name of Bill Cosby's son who was murdered. :(

Ennis is pronounced "EN-iss". It's a place in Ireland.I don't really like the idea of naming people after places, especially if it's a place you've never even been to.
