Fannie as a nickname for...?
A couple of questions on Fannie. It's a family name that I've just discovered, and it's used twice.1. Do you like Fannie? Usable in the U.S.?2. What could be a full name for Fannie BESIDES Frances? Neither my BF nor I like Frances.3. What sort of names could you see as siblings? Thanks!

Francesca
Francine
Faina
Ann or Annie
Faith-Ann
Felicity-Ann
Freesia-Annette
Fresca-Anisethese are suggestions but maybe a hypenated first name like some of these combos will give you a good basis for Fanny as a nn...

I have several Fannys in my family tree, too, and they have a nice literary namesake in Fanny Price from Mansfield Park. Unfortunately, it's much like Gay, in that the modern meaning of the word is the first thing most people think of when they hear it. I have a French friend called Fanette, which might be an alternative to Frances.

1. No, and no. There is no way a Fannie could navigate the schoolyard and NOT get teased, even in the US.2. I can't help you with this one; Frances is the only name I can think of. Maybe Francesca?3. Hattie, Millie, Nellie, Miriam, etc. I can't think of any boys' names.

Well, my name is Francesca and my nickname used to be Fanny, which where I am doesn't have the implications it has in English. I guess Fannie is less awkward than Fanny, but I don't live in the US.
I've sometimes heard it used as a nn for Stephanie.

Fanny is why my dad stopped my mum calling me Frances!
I'd have loved to be a Francesca, but not at the risk of Fanny!
Fanya is getting into Fanny territory too.

2. Francesca?
3. Harriet "Hattie"

1. Not really....
2. Fawn? Tiffany? Fauna? Faina? I can't reall think of any feasible ones.
3. Hattie, Felicity, Abigail/ Abby, Effie, Josie

1. I can't say I'm really a fan of it (no pun intended :), but that is mostly because I have heard "fanny" refer to a rear-end more than I have heard it used as a name. If this reference isn't common where you live, then I would say go for it! And I like the idea of using it as a nickname, so that if the child is made fun of she can choose to go with her more formal name.2. Faina, Fantine, Faustine*, Fern*, Finola, Fiona*, Flannery, Francesca, Vanessa*
(the starred ones are kind of a stretch, but I am a big fan of more extrapolated nicknames)3. Coral, Harper, Harriet, Cecile, Ivah, Margot for girls,
Alexander, Henry, Kieran or Howard for boys.

Presumably you're in the US, so you should know. Where British English is spoken, it is totally and completely unusable. Might you consider the thoroughly respectable Annie instead?

I honestly don't think its useable today, but full names could be Stephanie, Stefania or Francesca.

1. I've heard Fannie is popular among Latinos, and I saw an ad in the paper that mentioned and showed the picture of a young Latina named Fanny, so there's one person with the name. I have trouble really liking the name, though, just because of its use as a slang term.2. Theophania, Tiffany, Francesca.3. I'm terrible at devising sibsets, but I'd go with boys and girls names that were popular in Victorian times.

1. I don't like Fannie and I don't think it's usable in the US.2. Any Frances cognate -- Francisca, Francesca, Francine. Also Flannery, Fantasia, or Fernanda. Finnoula might be pushing it, but it could work.3. I don't know about siblings; it would depend on the full name.

1. Do you like Fannie? Usable in the U.S.?Not sure, I don't live in the US. I think Fannie is definately more usable than Fanny though. I think it's cute.2. What could be a full name for Fannie BESIDES Frances? Neither my BF nor I like Frances.I've heard of Fannie as a very rare nickname for Stephanie which I think is kinda cute. 3. What sort of names could you see as siblings? Stephanie "Fannie", Gabriel & Hannah make a nice sibset in my opinion.

I actually like Fannie, but I think it's quite an unfortunate name in an English-speaking country. So no, I probably wouldn't use it.Possible full names for Fannie?
Hmmm, Stephanie? Estefania, Francisca, Francesca, Afanasiya, Tiffany, Theophania?
That's all I can come up with... sorry.

1. Fannie is NMS. I think it's usable at home, but it would be difficult for a girl to be called Fannie at school and in other situations where she'd be around peers. I'd go with Frannie instead.2. Francesca or FranciscaI used to know a Francesca who went by Frannie. Fannie would work as a nickname for Francesca as well.3. It depends on which full name you go with, but here are sibling name ideas:Henry
Benjamin "Benji"Lily
Lillian "Lilly"
Emmy / Emmie
Emmeline "Emmy"
Sophie
Alessandra (as a sister for Francesca)
