Ariana
I love the name Ariana, but I noticed it was #73 on the US popularity list. I have never met anyone named Ariana, so I'm assuming it is safe for where I live, but I was wondering how many Arianas you have met and if you think it is too popular to name a baby?

I've met three; one girl was about 16 and she pronounced it air-ee-ann-uh instead of ah-ree-ah-nuh. The other two were younger, around 8 years old.I think it's a pretty name; it's not so wildly popular that it's boring, and it's not so uncommon that it's weird.

I love this name too! And I've never actually met an Ariana, although I know a girl named Ariane (age 15).

Did you check the Arianna spelling? I have a feeling that one is more popular in the US. I've never met a single Arianna (of any spelling). Re: popularity, it depends on the standards of the individual. Some people limit themselves to anything useable after the top 50, the top 100, etc. Personally, Arianna / Ariana is not too popular for me.Other similar names which are less common:Eliana
Mariana
TatianaRosanna
SusannaETA that I just checked the stats for Arianna. It ranked #70 in 2007. I don't see this name bursting with sudden popularity.

I love Ariana. I think I have only maybe met one while I was working, but I can't remember for sure. I don't think it is too popular at all.

I like it if its pronounced ah-ree-ahn-ah instead of air-ee-ana. It sounds too frilly the second way imo. I dont think its quite that popular, but it does seem like its becoming trendy simply because it seems a lot of young mothers are starting to use it. A girl I met a year ago named her daughter Arianna. I havent seen the baby or anything, but thats the only Arianna i've "met".And of course my user name is a kre8iv spelling of Arian (the welsh word for silver). I only did this because i loved the name Arian & it was already used as someone elses user name, but i still wanted to use it. so yea, now i hate looking at this kre8iv spelling and wish i could change my user name. blagh! oh well lol kinda off topic but im done rambling now :)

I like it, though I prefer it spelled Arianna. I know two Ariana's, one is 17, the other is one or so.I don't think it's too popular.

I really like this name and obviously if you haven't met anyone with this name, then it isn't too popular to use. I've never met anyone with this name either.

I have only met one Ariana; she's a junior in college, so she had the name before it was popular. I don't think it's too popular. I think it's really pretty and ages well!

I teach an Ariana! She's really cute hahah and I think she's like 4 years old. She's the only one I've ever met so I don't think its too popular to name a baby. It's a nice name :)

I've met a few Arianas, mostly little girls. If it's #73, I don't think you would have to worry. There are a lot of names in the top 100 I never hear.

I love it too. I have never met any. I only know one Arielle (my cousin) which is pretty close to Ariana. :)

Never met an Ariana either. It does fit in nicely with all the other popular -ana names. So it 'feels' more common than it actually is. I have noticed the name being considered on a lot of naming boards. It might be best to check the BA's in your area to be sure.
