I realized today, while looking through names, that I adore Elinor (that spelling only), probably because of it's association with the brainy Elinor Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility.

I detest the nickname Ellie. Detest! We're talking Nevaeh, Lily, Seraphina type of loathe. But that nickname is sort of... destined. It's almost a law of nature that someone at some point would refer to her as that.

What names do you love but are hesitant to use because of their nicknames?

Or vice versa, even? I for one think Edie is beautiful- even though I'm not terribly fond of Edith.
