I've never heard of Caro as a nn for Caroline (must be a Swedish thing). It's really cool, actually. Except that it wouldn't be too great to use in the US because of Caro syrup.
I know a lot of people here hate Alex on a girl, but I personally like it a lot and have since I was little. I'd name my daughter Alexandra and call her Alex. Sorry. :P
I don't hate Alex on a boy, but I think it's boring because there are SO many of them. I like it better than Xander though.
