Re: Nicknames for Mary
in reply to a message by GasolineAllie
Marymary, in all honesty. I love the name so much on its own that I can't think what would be better except more of the same. :P Plus, I really love doubling names like that.
I'm also very fond of Mamie, but that'd get confusing with mother-daughter Amy-Mamie!
Polly's cute, but I don't like Molly at all. Mimi's an old favourite of mine that I think would be perfectly sweet here. Maro and Marlo are somewhat-stretching-it possibilities that I like. Masha does nothing for me, but thanks to our Mashka here, I do like it with the K inserted.

Mimi
I love Mimi, and I'd completely forgotten about it as a nn for Mary, because son calls my mother Mimi instead of Grandma. She plans to have all her grandkids call her Mimi now. My family needs to stop co-opting all my Mary nicknames for non-Mary usage!
Marlo really appeals to me, given my helpless attraction to names containing a long o. It's going on my list.
