And the meaning doesn't bother me, either. Honestly, it appeals to me, in a way, because of the associations it has within my religion. When I think of Mary of Sorrows, I have this image of immense strength despite hardship. That's something beautiful and powerful and worth treasuring, not something to be discounted easily.

Besides that, what the name means for me is something beyond the etymology. I hear it and I think of lyrics from "Slip Sliding Away" by Paul Simon: Dolores, I live in fear--my love for you is so overpowering, I'm afraid I'll disappear. There's something to be said for a woman who inspires that. ;)
