Re: Dolores?

It is my aunt's name, and I have a cousin, her daughter, called Dolly after her. It is also my mother's MN for her. My mother is Aurelia Mary Dolores.
Personally, I dislike it immensely. I know you say that the meaning doesn't bother you, but I can't get past the association. When I pick names, I want them to reflect how I perceive my future children. I want sorrow no where near them. I just think of how as kids, we always ask what our names mean. I have no idea how I could explain away the meaning -- well, I thought it sounded pretty anyway? That wouldn't cut it if my mom tried to tell me that, so I wouldn't do it to my children. I don't necessarily pick a name for a positive meaning, though it helps, but if I have a negative association I can't shake, then I wouldn't use it. Not many people actually know the meaning, though, but I would be concerned for when SHE asks.
Dolores Mary or Dolores Aurelia spring to mind for obvious reasons. Other possibilities:
Dolores Camille
Dolores Cecilia
Dolores Sophia
Dolores Tamsin
Dolores Olivia
Dolores Amelia
