Georgie on a girl.
This is a name spotting. I overheard a conversation today at a children's museum between two mothers about one's daughter's name. Her little girl (very young, under a year) was named Georgie. She explained that her father's name was George (so the baby's grandfather) and he didn't have any sons so that's why she named her daughter Georgie. I thought the sentiment was really sweet. Even though I think a more feminine form of the name George would have worked just as well, like Georgia or Georgiana, Georgette, Georgina, etc... Although technically I suppose Georgie is unisex as it works as a nickname for any number of George names, male and female.I thought the name was cute, if not my style and I think it's better as a nickname. It was kind of refreshing to hear though, not a name you encounter every day, especially on a baby.WDYT?

I adore Georgie as a nickname for Georgina or Georgiana. So cute!

That's like a little girl I saw a year ago was named Charlie. Not a nickname or anything, that was it. I fell in love with it and it will probably always be in my top 5. And Georgie is just as great in my opinion. I love little names like that on girls.

I think Georgie is so cute on a girl, but only as a nn. I think Georgia is my favorite 'feminine' version of George. My mn is Georgette, after my maternal grandfather, and I grew up disliking it but now I love it. Even though I still get odd looks when I tell people my mn. :b

I love Georgie, but I definitely prefer it as a nn for Georgina (my mn & very used family name). My Mom's maiden name was Washington, so I always call her Georgie W.

I think Georgie is horrible as a formal name for a boy or a girl, as it's much too nickname and immature sounding. It's completly masculine sounding to me. They should have gone with Georgia or Georgianna to honor the Father.

I agree that it's a good nickname, I wouldn't make that the child full name. I like Georgia the best or Jorja, so the child doesn't feel it's named after a state. Georgina is nice too.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's cute, but I definitely prefer it only as a nn.Btw, Georgie's the nn of our (male) cat George.
