I think
Hazel was one of those names that may have been well liked for a short time (early 20th century), but then quickly fell out of favor.
My grandmother was
Hazel, she died young and of all the grandchildren born on that side of the family, none of the girls were named for her. I think no one was ready to use a name like that in the 50s-70s (when the grandaughters were born). However, I'd consider it now - or at least for a middle name.
