I personally like longer names better than short ones so I would name him Kaden or Kadan or Kayden or Kaydan or Kaiden or Kaidan or Kaeden or Kaedan. Then his nick name could be Kay. Also I like these other spellings of Kay just as much: Kaye, Kai, or Kae.

I don't know if a boy named Kay would be teased, since it doesn't seem like a very popular name for girls anymore. The only Kay I've ever met was a woman in her sixties. I don't care for it as a full name, though; it just looks incomplete. I like it as a nickname, or as a middle name.

Kai is pronounced like Ky, like Ty with a Ky. I think a boy named Kay would be teased completely, and have to keep explaining why in the world he had that name. Kai is kinda popular and would be much more normal than a boy named Kay.

Spelled Kai and pronounced the same it is quite popular in German speaking and Scandinavian countries.

I like it, but I would spell it "Cay" not Kay. I really do like it though!

I know a man named Kim and boy named Mackenzie and a boynamed Dana, so what's wrong with Kay? nothing. I say go for it, but if you are hesitant use it as a mn or as ann for longer name. I think it sound sambiguous, and I only know one girl with Kay as her mn (spelled Kae though). So, in my mind the name is open for use one either gender.

Kay will always be a boy's name for me - I grew up on the Arthurian legends. Kai is a less used variant which also looks nice and Welsh (no idea if it actually is though).

If you're worried, maybe: give him a middle name he could use instead till he grows up / give him Kay as a middle name and see if he wants to use it / give him a first name that can be abbreviated to Kay.

Sure, why not? It's a little bit too plain for me, but it's still OK. I don't think it's too girly, even though it's predominantly feminine nowadays, so I don't see why getting teased would be inevitable for a boy called Kay.
