[Opinions] Osmund
I’m watching a programme on tv from the 1970s this morning and the first name of one of the actors is Osmund. I like a lot of medieval names and Osmund is no different. Sadly though I don’t see it making a comeback. WDYT of Osmund?Don’t take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice from

I like Osmund! I could see it maybe making a comeback, because Ozzy is getting quite popular.
The "Oz" sound is cool, but Osmund doesn't appeal. Ozias (or Ozymandias!), on the other hand...
I really, really like it. I don't think it'll make a comeback either - since most names with Os- outside of Oscar have been rare, even with Desmond being the more heard of -mund name. However, I do think Edmund will fare well in the charts for at least a bit because of its similarities to Edward. Some vintage names stand a better chance than others.
I like it. Oz is a fun nickname. I do prefer Esmond though.
I don't mind Osmund but I do prefer Oswin.I also think of the Osmond family singing group especially Donny & Marie. There is also Oswald but that has a dubious association with President Kennedy's killer Lee Harvey Oswald.
I really like Osmund! I do think immediately of the villain in The Portrait of a Lady, but instead of souring the name, that association just reminds me of how magisterial Henry James is.
Osmond is forever and always associated pretty much exclusively with the Osmond family, who had a TV show of their own in the 1970s. They are probably as iconic of the 1970s as disco. They were a very large (nine or ten kids) Mormon family with a lot of musical talent and a lot of beautiful white teeth.
I think you're exaggerating. I'm 33 and know about the Osmonds but doubt people younger than me do.
To be honest, I think that Osmund would be cool and unique choice for a boy. Plus, with an admirable nickname like Ozzy, you could never go wrong. At first I didn't like it, because it reminded me of the word "almond" (due to the "mund" ending)...then, I thought about Desmond, Raymond and Edmund being names I love (which have the same ending).
It’s not bad, I love the nn Ozzie so that’s a win. The meaning is great too. I do prefer the spelling Osmond, it looks a little less dorky lol.
I love it!
Don't like it at all
