Clark and Maria Pilar are nearing their retirement age, but they are not thinking of slowing down any time soon. With their kids flying out of the nest and only the youngest two still living at home, and one of them already engaged, they are pouring their love and hearts into their bakery, that’s of course when none of their five lovely grandchildren are around.
Deborah got married straight out of college, at that time she and her husband have been dating for nearly four years and knew each other forever as their mothers were good friends. Back in the day they even used to joke about the kids getting married one day, but never in their wildest dreams thought it would actually happen, until it really did. Debbie now works as an accountant at city council, while her husband sells used cars. They are proud parents to three boys aged five, three and one.
Since the day Manny has been born Clark was dreaming off passing the bakery to his oldest son one day, just like his own father did to him, but Manny had other plans. He graduated with a degree in journalism and permanently moved to Los Angeles where he works at Los Angeles Times. He met his wife through mutual friends three years ago and always says it was a love at first sight, the moment she walked into the room he knew that was the woman he was going to marry one day. They were married a little over a year ago and recently welcomed fraternal twin girls to their family.
Marco had always been deeply religious, so it came as no surprise when he announced shortly before his eighteenth birthday that he would like to join the priesthood. He has finished his degree in philosophy and is currently working on his degree in theology to make his dream come true.
Lionel decided to take different path in life compared to his twin brother. Although smart, he has never been the studios type and preferred manual work, finally becoming a certified plumber. He met his girlfriend six months ago, she works part-time as a waitress in his favorite dinner, while studying to become a teacher.
Betty and her fiancé have been together since her sophomore year of high school. They were both part of the theater group and somehow gravitated to each other. He proposed during their summer trip to Santa Cruz and plan to marry next year, their plans after wedding include moving to Los Angeles and making it big in Hollywood.
Elissa the youngest of the Hubbard’s is junior in high school. While Clark has been disappointed that Manny and also none of the older children showed interest in the bakery, he was overjoyed when his youngest daughter did. She loves helping around, baking and coming up with new recipes, several of her ideas even making it to the menu. Seeing his daughter and the joy that baking is bringing to her, Clark is sure that once he and Maria Pilar decide retire bakery will be in very good hands.
