(I'm sorry I changed it from Else using a sperm donor to it being Ronan's child, but I'm honestly kind of attached to their relationship!)
Else feels that she and Ronan have aced the whole parenting thing. Ida's the light of their lives, a vivacious, excitable little girl who's always desperate to learn. However, Else's somewhat less than thrilled to find out that, after a night where they were less careful than they should have been, the two of them are expecting again. At first, she feels almost hostile towards the unborn child, worried it will upset her life with Ronan and Ida, but after the first scans, when she finds out she's carrying twin girls, she's just as excited as she was before. Darcy and Eloise are born 3 weeks premature, but there are no complications. Else and Ronan both decide to quit the podcast they were working on, and instead start up their own, dedicated to sharing the voices of those who might not otherwise be heard. Ida, for her part, is a little jealous at all the attention taken away from her, but soon grows to love her little sisters.
Annie couldn't be happier; she's now Mrs Annette Montague! Jasper started teaching at the school she worked at about 6 months after Arthur and Tom were born. They clicked pretty quickly, and by the end of the year were dating. They were the gossip of the school - "Have you heard that Miss Fraser (y'know, the librarian?) and Mr Montague (He teaches Amy, right?) are together? I've heard that they're engaged!" By the time Arthur and Tom are 2, Annie and Jasper are indeed engaged, but a few months before the wedding, Annie finds out that she's 2 months pregnant! She gives birth to Constance a married woman, and her sons, with Mike's somewhat unconcerned consent, they change Arthur and Tom's surname to Montague. The boys love their new dad, and their little sister - they're always trying to take care of her!
Mattie's been struggling a little - motherhood was an adventure for a while, and then became awfully difficult and lonely and time-consuming. She withdrew into herself, focusing on her now pretty steady career as a theatre tech, mourning the loss her future, the career on the West End that she dreamed of. Eventually, her sisters get worried for her, they all leave their kids with their grandparents for a night, and take her to see a musical to remind her why she loves what she does. She thoroughly enjoys it, but even more enjoys the conversation she had with the witty, handsome French guy she sat next to. She's over the cute coffee shop girl (it turns out it takes more than intense eye contact to get someone to like you back), and she ends up with René's number. He starts coming over quite regularly, and brings his daughter Morgane to meet Luna. There's a bit of a language barrier at first - René and Morgane lived in France until she was 4 (although Morgane has her absent Scottish mother's surname as her middle name) and her English isn't the best, and Luna's French isn't good either, as Mattie doesn't speak it often. However, the two become very close, as do René and Mattie, and the girls jump at any chance to be together.
