[Opinions] Re: pronunciation

Cate Blanchett used this for her son. I heard her say it on a talk show once and she pronounced it "Dash-ull." But, she's British, so maybe her accent added to its pronunciation. He's brother to Roman and Ignatius. Thats exactly the type of names I expect it to be paired with. Sort of snooty/hipster.

Cate Blanchett is Australian, not British. I can't help on the name pronunciation as I've never heard it said out loud but my instinct would be to pronounce it as Dash-eel.
You're right! Sorry, I don't know why I said she was British. I know better than that.
I'm pretty sure that Dash in " The Incredibles" has the full name of Dashiell, and it's said the say way - "DASH-ull"
Dashiell Hammett was named after his mother's surname and it was an Anglicanized version of the French name De Chiel.
It's pronounced DASH-ull.
It's pronounced DASH-ull.
So by all accounts we just ignore the i altogether eh? Huh. I like Dash-yul better than Dash-ull, but oh well.
*bangs the gavel*
lol Yeah I know two Dashiells, actually, super randomly, and they're both like that - Dashle.
